They are insured against these things in most cases, so it's not skin off their nose if they refund you, providing they investigate and find that it was a scam. Call again and ask to speak to a supervisor or manager, maybe this will help.

If you called to dispute the charge, they should investigate it and issue a temp refund while doing so. I told them the bill comes in my name to my address every month and if they have another person who's getting the bill at their address in their name I wish they'd pay the bill for a change, so I don't have to! Needless to say she came around confirmed my landline and accepted the VOIP too, sent the needed texts to confirm the account and prob solved. I informed her that I use this same VOIP number with Chase and Citibank w/ NO prob! They also told me that my land line wasn't in my name, didn't have the same address and yada.

I asked them who doesn't use a VOIP these days. I had some mess with them this morning about my number being a VOIP. Once you get your money promptly close the account ( make sure to let them know why too.) and move on over to another bank. If the threat of doing so doesn't make them come round. If that doesn't work, tell them you are about to file a complaint w/ the FTC and banking commission. I swear, companies do as little as possible, if that, to get by these days. Let them know that this is downright stealing in your book. You should ask to speak to a manager and suggest. Your dad's bank would have then in turn called him to verify and they would have let cap know all was good. this is something that cap should have done themselves if they were so concerned about fraud. I'd have gone ape bananas on them! Have your father's bank contact them to verify who he is and that the check is good to clear. Or to have them return the funds to my father, which they also refused to do. At this point, I just want my money, and my account closed. The closest one is almost 70 miles each direction. When I asked how else this can be cleared up, I was told that he could go into one of their very few branch offices. His cellular is under my mother's name, and this isn't good enough for Capital One. She told me she needed a number, with HIS name on the account. So I provided them with the only number my father has, his cellular. Upon calling back, they said they wished to speak to the check writer. When I checked again, the hold was still there. The lady on the phone told me the hold was lifted, and funds made fully available to me.

I immediately called them, and was asked a series of questions about the deposit. At the same time, Capital One freezes my funds for withdraw. The check fully cleared, and the funds taken from sending bank, and posted onto my checking. After depositing, it was accepted, and was told it would be fully available in 4 days. Recently my father gave me a check, for $4000, to pay for a tree removal service.
